Join us as we head to the village of Lumbarda to sample some of Korcula’s tastiest highlights, including stops at three family run productions. You’ll be able to meet some of the island’s great producers for a genuine insight into life on Korcula Island. Come hungry!
- Join a small group on the island’s first Taste of Korcula tours
- Meet local Korcula Island producers and learn more about island life
- Taste the refreshing Grk wine which is grown only in the village of Lumbarda
- Sample traditional foods al fresco at one of Lumbarda’s top waterfront restaurants
- Learn how locally grown produce is turned into delicious preserves and brandies
Our first stop is at a charming waterfront restaurant, run by a local family in a beautiful bay of Lumbarda. This konoba (traditional restaurant) specialises in seafood, so we will taste a selection of their authentic Korculian dishes which use fresh and seasonal ingredients with a glass of their homemade wine. They also offer meat & vegetable options if seafood isn't your thing.
After filling our bellies we will take a walk towards the centre of the village to taste one of Korcula’s most famous products, it’s wine. The small winery we visit produces the acclaimed and little known (outside of Croatia) white wine, Grk, as well as Plavac Mali (a red wine produced through-out Dalmatia with ties to American Zinfandel). We'll also enjoy a few Dalmatian snacks here.
Leaving the winery, we head into the countryside for a pleasant 15 minute walk and arrive at our final destination to sweeten up our taste-buds. At the home of the jovial Ivan & Ana, we will taste an array of delicious homemade products including olive oil, preserves, sweet treats, Croatian rakija (brandy) and to top the tour off, pancakes (crepe style) with jam. We will also take a wonderful walk up through the olive & fruit trees for an amazing panoramic view. After we bid our new friends farewell, we'll return back to Korcula.

Via TripAdvisor, August 2019: Figs, olives, wine and just great conversation!
Fresh from the horrendous fish picnic (best not to elaborate but please steer clear of Koryka Info) we weren’t expecting much but this walking and wine tasting tour surpassed our expectations.
Newlyweds Carolina and Austin were a joy and host John provided just the right amount of information and discrete insight into this amazing part of Croatia.
Clearly in love with the island and the country John was informative but also allowed us to find our own conversational level (politics wine food and the arts) and provided just the right amount of knowledge about regional viticulture but with no pressure to buy additional products which all went to make this possibly the best holiday liquid lunch we’ve ever had.
Great company, wonderful insights and a very splendid day!

We had the good fortune to spend a delightful afternoon in the company of the wonderful Rachael from Korcula Explorer. My wife and I have not experienced a wine and food tasting tour before so did not really know what to expect. Read more

We had a lovely time. Thanks again!
We are and drank like Croatian royalty with John. Oh and we also had a great time.
The wine may have fogged my memory, but I think we stopped at a lovely Bayside restaurant in Lumbarda with a really nice spread (and really fresh seafood), followed by a brief walk to Ivo's place, who shared his life and the fruits of his gardens/labors with us. We visited his farm/garden/vineyard and sampled some of the things he makes from his land. We bought so many items from Ivo because they were so good and it was so great to see real foods/drinks being made the real way. Next, we visited a winery, before the drive back to Korcula town.
John was knowledgeable and his insights into living as an expat in Croatia were interesting.
Finally, although I don't recommend it, we were able to book the tour just a couple hours before it was set to begin. This was mostly luck as a family of 4 was already set up. I would say give John a call or email to check even if last minute.

Thanks for the email.
The trip in Korcula Island was really incredible because of your tour program. Thanks for that.
Really good afternoon activity - good winery and restaurant visits. GRK wines are real interesting and the tastings of jams/oils/alcohol by a local maker was great. BEE careful the wasps are here in droves
We had a great evening on this food and wine tour. It consisted of three stops. We really loved the winery. The wine was delicious and the owner was attentive and interesting. The second stop had delicious food, but it was more like appetizers than a main course and we felt like more food was called for given the amount of wine served and the fact that it was meant to be the main meal. We especially enjoyed our third stop for dessert at Ivan's and the walk around his vineyards and the chance to converse. The evening gave us an opportunity to see a different part of the island and local island life. It added a lot to our trip and our overall experience and we can definitely recommend it!
May 2018 Food and Wine Tasting - Fantastic (tripAdvisor)
This was a new trip for Korcula Explorer and we were the first people to do this. Rachel picked us up in Korcula and took us to a winery where we took a tour and tasted 3 GRK wines with nibbles. We talked for ages to the owner who was so knowledgeable and friendly. Read More
